Rotech's Non-Invasive Ventilation Program
Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is the gold standard of care to treat COPD exacerbations in certain patients. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Patients with COPD face significant physiological changes that severely compromise their respiratory systems. COPD symptoms can progressively compromise a patient’s quality of life, affecting their ability to manage day-to-day and physical activities and impairing sleep quality.
Medicare data shows us that hospitals readmit an alarming 22% of COPD patients within 30 days of discharge.
COPD also places a significant economic burden on healthcare systems, with an estimated cost of nearly $50 billion a year1. It is one of the leading causes of hospitalization for adults in the United States. Rotech’s NIVnow program gives patients the resources they need to manage their non-invasive ventilation treatment successfully.
With NIVnow, your patients can make positive changes in their quality of life, and they can do it now!
NIV can improve gas exchange, increase sleep duration, and relieve other symptoms over time to improve patients’ quality of life. Research supports a multifaceted intervention approach, including RT-led respiratory care, medication reconciliation, appropriate oxygen therapy initiation, and patient education – leading to a significant reduction in hospital readmission.2
One study found a 97% decrease in hospital readmittance rates for patients treated with NIV3. Another showed improvements in health-related quality of life, mood, dyspnea, gas exchange, exercise tolerance and lung function decline, with benefits increasing further with time.4
